As some of you know, Bill Ohsie, HCC and HASK member, has had a stroke and is in Memorial Hermann Hospital at Memorial City. I have spoken twice with Bill today and gathered some basic information that he is happy to share. Yesterday morning in bed he became aware that he had lost motor function on his left side. He and Jackie quickly recognized the situation and she summoned help immediately. Since then he has been at the hospital for evaluation and treatment. At this point, he has significant, but not complete, paralysis on his left side, and is alert and communicative. He expects to remain at Memorial Hermann for another couple of days or so and then transfer to an in-patient rehabilitation center. It is too early to know the degree of recovery he will ultimately experience.
Bill is aware of and appreciates all the concern and good wishes of friends and fellow paddlers.. He is happy to receive phone calls, texts, emails, and visitors, subject to the medical necessities of his testing, treatment, and physical therapy. If you might like to visit, contact him and see what he is up to. He is in room 4E38 (East Tower) at Memorial Hermann at Gessner and I-10.
