About this event

A pleasant and relatively short run on the Brazos above San Felipe. The distance is roughly 14.25 miles. There are no unusual hazards in this stretch, with only a couple of minor rocky areas. The put in and take out are a bit steep and generally fairly muddy, but this is, after all, the Brazos.

Large mammal fossils and petrified wood are frequent on the gravel bars, as are interesting mussels. The bottom section of the run- about six miles of it, becomes wide and slow due to the back up from the Killer Fang rapid, just below the take out.

This is a nice short run for those who have wanted to try the Brazos but don't like the 20+ mile distances on many of the stretches. Pace will be moderate and stops frequent.

Registration required.
