Hello, Members,
September's Monthly Club meeting will come on Wednesday Sept 13 at 7pm-9pm.
We do hope you will join us in person at the Bayland Community Center to have a good time meeting new and old friends and our invited speaker on this month's special topic. Of course, you can join us via Zoom if you are unable to come in person. But you will have to register at the club's website to receive the Zoom link for the live cast. More detail can be found at the website.
For this month's special topic, we invite Joe Coker to talk about "Paddling with critters". Yes, those gators and snakes!
For those who do not know Joe, Joe Coker is among the longest members of the Houston Canoe Club. Of course, he also used to serve several board positions of the club, being an ACA Level II instructor, etc etc. More interestingly, he is known for his extensive exploration paddling in the Trinity Basin. He knows this area and still regularly lead or co-lead trips to this area so beautiful and live with many wildlife, including, of course, the scary gators and elusive snakes, and rich variety of plants. Did I mention Joe used to be student of swamp flora and fauna? I enjoy his trips and even my dear wife, who is not an active paddler, do not want to miss his trips. So we always ride our tandem, as we follow Joe deep into those densely covered, kind of spooky swamps, feeling safe, enriched and refreshed after the trips. Come join us and you will enjoy his presentation.
Thank you for being a club member.
