Founded in 1985, the San Marcos River Foundation works to assure public access to the San Marcos River, protect the flow of its aquifer-fed springs, improve water quality, protect the beauty of the area with parks, and organize river cleanups. To advance healthy ecosystems along the river, the Foundation has participated in watershed protection plans, supported habitat conservation projects, organized volunteers to remove invasive plants, and worked to protect rare, threatened and endangered species that are unique to the San Marcos River and the Edwards Aquifer.
You can join up as a member of the Foundation at https://sanmarcosriver.org/become-a-member/, then take part in their 2023 annual meeting at 3:00 - 5:30 PM on Saturday, February 11 at a celebrated venue in San Marcos.
