What is this?
Patti will speak about medical and first aid issues related to paddling.
Patti is trained as a registered nurse, and is a Red Cross CPR, First Aid and Wilderness First Aid instructor. But her life-long love of the outdoors led her to paddling where she is an accomplished paddle instructor and trainer for over 25 years. Appointed to the ACA board by Charlie Wilson in 2002 to represent recreational paddling, Patti subsequently chaired the Intro Paddle curriculum committee, and served as secretary and vice-president. She was the Red River Division Instructional Facilitator until the position was dissolved in 2016. She started the concept of a state coordinator because of the vast territory of the Red River Division, which became the model for the current state director position. She has volunteered as the kayak instructor for TPWD's Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program for 23 years, co-founded the Texas Outdoors Woman Network, and currently serves as secretary for the TRPA.
