Miles And Mussels #9, Brazos Not Many Miles, But Lots Of Mussels! -- CANCELLED

Postponed Indefinitely - Illness of presenter

BRIEF
(one sentence) DESCRIPTION:  Mussel sampling and identification training with USFWS in a diverse stretch of the lower Brazos.  Perhaps as little as 4 miles paddling

FULL DESCRIPTIONCharrish Stevens of USFWS will be doing a mussel sampling and identification training for Lower Brazos Riverwatch starting at the 1458 bridge on the Brazos.  This is at San Felipe.  Bring light weight, rubber-fingered garden gloves, if available.  Also snorkeling gear may be useful.  There is a limit of ten for this, since there will also be a couple of my graduate students and some other environmental folks.  If people are so inclined, we can wrap this up by running through the small rapids and taking out at I-10.

LOCATION:
Meet on the west side of the FM 1458 bridge on the Brazos

FEES:
For any current ACA (American Canoe Club) member, no fees.
For anyone who is not a current ACA member, there is a $5 "Event Membership" to cover insurance expenses.

SKILL LEVEL:
NOVICE - Generally flat water, and not overly long.  Could be some more interesting things exposed at really low flows.

Saturday, October 6, 2018, 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM
