Texas State Meeting and Training Event

Meetings, Demos and Lunch are all FREE – please register in advance

From Interstate 35 take exit 228. Drive east on E Wm Cannon Road. Turn left on McKinney Falls Parkway and left into the park. There is a $5 per person entry fee without a state park annual pass.
Why:   Hear what our national organization is currently doing to support paddlers and promote paddling in our region. Voice your ideas on how the ACA can improve access and opportunities in our state. Share how you are willing to help make it happen.

Also:    Breakout discussion groups -- Topics include: Starting a division-wide traveling rendezvous; New ACA disciplines and how to get involved; Getting grants; Starting a state-wide Adaptive Paddling Workshop; Members networking forum; SEIC Policies, EEC and FA/CPR requirements
  • Stand Up Paddleboarding -- newest ACA discipline -- Demo by Austin Paddlesports
  • Orientation to Paddle Safe Paddle Smart -- Teach PS2 in schools, at camps
  • Instructor Updates—L1 & L2 River Canoe, River Kayak; L2 & L3 Coastal Kayak
  • Skills classes – SUP, L2 River Canoe and River Kayak, L2 & L3 Coastal Kayak; ARC Basic First Aid and Adult CPR
Updates, short skills courses and FA/CPR are only $45 – Updates require meeting attendance. Sunday full courses are just $95. At-the-door registration for classes is only if space available

Saturday lunch provided by Austin Canoe and Kayak is FREE to all meeting participants who register in advance. A catered dinner will be available Saturday night at 6:30 PM for $15 per person.

9:00     Stand Up Paddleboarding Demonstration, Onion Creek near Smith Visitor Center
10:00   ACA State Meeting, Dining Hall
12:00   Lunch by Austin Canoe and Kayak and Break-out Sessions
1:00 – 5:00 PM  Instructor Updates, PS2 Orientation and Skills Review Classes
           ($45 each.  Pre-register)

6:30     Dinner (catered dinner will be available for $15)
Sunday
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM  PS2 Orientation at Mc Kinney Falls SP
10:00 AM – 2:00 PM  SUP Quickstart at The Expedition School, Austin
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM   L2 River Canoe and River Kayak skills classes at Mc Kinney Falls SP 
                                   L2 and L3 Coastal Kayak on Lady Bird Lake if conditions are appropriate
                                   ARC Basic First Aid and Adult CPR at The Expedition School, Austin
Advance registration and payment is required for all courses. A small portion of your fee pays event expenses; event instructors are paid with remainder. A full refund will be made for any courses that don’t meet a 3 person minimum participation or if conditions cause cancellation.
