This river trip is very dependent on rain in the upstream water shed just before the trip. Kent moved the paddling days to Saturday, Sunday and Monday. He called it right because we had ample water to float.
Amy, Ken, David, and I decided to keep with the original meeting date of Wednesday, April 19 at Tyler Bend National Park. The four of us meet at Daingerfield Texas State Park on Tuesday, April 18. Campsites 42 and 43. We went to dinner and then hung around the campsite for a while. The Don Juan Restaurant had a very good Willie Nelson cover band.

The next day David left early so he could do some exploring in Arkansas. Ken, Amy and I slept late and got off around 10am. We got to Tyler Bend Campground-Buffalo National River around 7pm to find David had reserved two campsites (21 and 22) for the group. David started a campfire, and we sat around for the evening.

Thursday, April 20. David had to leave because he was not feeling well. This was another sleep-late morning for the rest of us. Amy, Ken and I decided to drive to Rush to get a look at the takeout. It was forty miles from Tyler Bend. It rained pretty hard from five to six. During that time, we almost ran into a fallen tree, on two separate occasions. We thought our campsite might be tossed around.
We ate at Los Locos of Marshall. It was very good. We found our campsite in great shape. It had rained but all three tents were up and dry. Ken started a fire for us. Another nice evening.
Friday, April 21. The three of us decided to hike within the park, there is so much to see and do. We decided to hike the Riverview Tral to the Sod Collier Homestead. It was a loop with wonderful views of the valley and the river.

We meet Kent, Sam, and Duane at the Daisy Queen in Marshall, Arkansas. This was a gem of a restaurant and I highly recommend it. We had another campfire and talked about the logistics of the next day.

Saturday, April 22. Duane decided not to go on the trip as he was not feeling well. He did help us with shuttle by going to the takeout and bringing all the drivers to the put in.
