Board Meeting
May 27, 2020
Bayland Park Community Center
Recorder: Frank Ohrt
The HCC officers held a board meeting by Zoom on May 27, 2020. (I’m not sure if it was the “May meeting”, or what, but we met.) Attending were Commodore Natalie Wiest, Vice Commodore Christy Long, Fleet Captain Bruce Bodson, Purser Kent Walters, Boatswain Alice Nissen, Recorder Frank Ohrt, Conservation Chair Tom Douglas, and Sergeant-at-Arms Ann Derby.

Mr. Douglas discussed his and Joe Coker’s meeting with the Army Corps of Engineers concerning paddling opportunities on Lake Charlotte.

Ms. Long spoke about the status of future meetings, in person or by Zoom, and whether she should try to re-schedule speakers. She suggested that Mr. Bodson might give a talk on reptiles and amphibians of Texas. Ms. Wiest said she would try to organize a virtual  meeting for July. Mr. Bodson said he knew how to have visual aids in a Zoom meeting, and that it was easy. The Recorder has heard that one before.

Mr. Bodson reported that there had been no official club trips in the past month, only informal, privately organized trips. Ms. Wiest said that there was a new “Covid-19” waiver on the ACA website. Mr. Bodson noted that the CDC guidelines were becoming less strict, that he would review the new waiver, and would post a notice on the club Forum on parameters for unofficial trips. Mr. Walters asked if such trip mileage would be applied to annual mileage totals, and Mr. Bodson said that he would announce and create a list of “willing participants” for such trips, to skirt the usual requirements for official mileage.

Ms. Wiest said that she would post a notice on the Forum of a July Zoom general meeting.

Ms. Nissen reported two new members - Thomas Carney and Curtis Ruggles. (After the meeting, she emailed the Recorder with the name of a third new member, Jessica Albin.)

There being no further business, Ms.Wiest adjourned the meeting.

Board Meeting Recorder,
Frank Ohrt
