General Membership Meeting
April 13th, 2016

The Commodore called the meeting to order, and introduced the club officers. The Fleet Captain was absent. The Commodore mentioned the pre- and post-meeting dinners.

The Commodore Emeritus spoke on changes in the Club America website structure, and noted that the club needed to make some minor changes to it’s website as a result.

The Commodore called for volunteers to host pre-meeting dinners, and to make suggestions of restaurants where we might meet.

The Newsletter Editor showed how to access the archive of old club newsletters (40 years) and mileage logs (11 years) that he has uploaded to the website.

The Purser gave the club financial report, showing that we were a bit ahead of our budget for the year.

The Boatswain gave the membership report. Kent Walters introduced his wife, a first-time visitor.

The Commodore, acting as Fleet Captain, called for reports on recent trips:
  • March 12; Buffalo Bayou Regatta; Terry Herdlicka
  • March 19; Poling on the upper Guadalupe River; Bob Naeger
  • March 21; Lake Charlotte and Trinity River bottoms; Joe Coker and Dave Kitson
  • March 31 - April 3; BTNEP Bayou La Fourche paddle; Kent Walters
  • April 2-3; Texas Trash Bash, Cagle Recreation Area; David Risch
  • April 9; Turtle Creek; David Portz
The Commodore then asked for announcements of future trips:
  • April 15-16; East Texas Adventure; Paul Woodcock and Kent Walters
  • April 16; Hidalgo Falls Festival
  • May 28-30; Sabine River; Philip Matticks
It was announced that the Kemah Triathlon needs safety boaters on April 24th.

The Vice-Commodore introduced Joe Coker, who gave an interesting presentation on “Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Alligators”. Chomp, chomp.

The meeting dissolved. Some of us went to Jax's.

Commodore Honey Leveen polled the board members prior to the meeting date, and it was determined that there were no pressing issues which needed to be discussed.  Therefore, the Board meeting was cancelled for this month.
