HOUSTON CANOE CLUB GENERAL MEETING
September 14, 2011

Vice Commodore Joe Coker called the meeting to order, welcomed everyone, and introduced the officers.

Boatswain Honey Leveen introduced and welcomed guests and new members. She announced that she had club business cards, brochures and boat stickers so please see her next meeting to get some.

Fleet Captain Paul Woodcock gave the trip report. Past trips included an Armand Bayou moonlight trip, Buffalo Bayou, and the South Llano. Upcoming trips included the dragon boat race in which the club will enter a boat, the Sargent fund raiser paddle October 8th to benefit their library, and the Fall Fling October 1st on Lake Charlotte. Please see the web site for information on these activities.

Ann Derby gave a safety minute on a product, the Aurora fire starter.

Vice Commodore Joe Coker announced that the election for new officers is coming up in November. He asked that anyone willing to work on a nominating committee, or to serve as an officer please e-mail him or Commodore Ken McDowell. He encouraged everyone to participate and volunteer.

Purser Harmon Everett gave the financial report. All is moved from Chase to Amegy Bank.

The program was a presentation by Fraser Baker reviewing rivers he has been on. These included the San Marcos at 1,000 cfs (flood), the Columbus Loop, the Medina & Upper Guadalupe, Sheldon Reservoir, Lake Charlotte, the Pecos, the freeze trip on the Colorado (sadly no more), and photos of a freestyle competition.
