I've enjoyed reading several trip reports. They can be addictive. What a great resource. I didn't rent the platform at sea rim. I've already learned that salt water marshes can be buggy!

I don't have a sea kayak either. I'll have a ww kayak and pakayak with me.

Hi Tony, Here is a link to the HCC trip report concerning Sea Rim Park. We stayed one night on the floating platform. The website has a trip list detailing several of the rivers you want to paddle.

I live in Beaumont but am not retired so I can't do during the week paddles unless you do very late in the day. I have paddled both the Village Creek and the Big Thicket and if you were to change plans and do either on Sunday instead of Monday might be able to join. Village Creek is an easy paddle on slow moving water with virtually no hazards. Big Thicket is a Texas Water Trail and has a section through the trees that is straight out of a movie. Last time I paddled it I saw a swallow tailed kite which was very nice. They are rare in this area.

I am interested in Sea Rim if it can be done in a rec or creek boat. I do not have a sea kayak.

Scott

thank you for the tip, I'll seek them out.

Hi Tony,

I'll be traveling then so I won't be able to assist. I noticed you have village creek, Neches and Sea rim state park on your list. There is a southeast Texas paddling group on Facebook. You'll be able to connect with folks in that area for those three locations. Best, k

So I'm an older (61) ww paddler who has become more risk adverse and am on a new quest. I'm slowly making every state a recreational paddling destination (I'm learning to mellow out). This May I will be visiting Texas. I have an rv that is not the best shuttle vehicle but it works for kayaks as long there is adequate parking space. In the past I've paddled canoes, ww c1s, ww kayaks, sots, and recreatipnal kayaks. I am a newbie in a sea kayak.. I'm still refining my plans. So I'm looking for advice and also shuttle or paddling companions, and always enjoy learning about areas from the locals. I left a bit of Louisiana on my itinerary in case anybody wants to go swampin' in buffalo cove..

I haven't made up my mind if I'm paddling a stretch of the rio, devils, or pecos or some combination. My brother will be joining me on this latter portion. he is doing his own research, my first pick was the pecos. I couldn't really get a sense of levels. usgs gauge flatlined . My brother concerned about physicality of the run and remoteness. He is older and retired as well. I;m paddling in wv this weekend but will check back for any suggestions/feedback monday.
