Paddling and Partying at Lake Charlotte, December ...
Author Last Post

I will be coordinating the paddle trip for us on Sunday morning, December 11, as a warmup and appetite enhancer prior to our picnic. We'll be eating between 12 and 1, and more information will be forthcoming on that.

Those of us who are paddling (and I can't tell from current registration list) will be launching from Cedar Hill Park at 9 that morning. We'll take a relatively short paddle and plan to return to the launch site by 11:30 so the serious business of eating and greeting can commence. Current weather forecast is for winds from the southeast, 8 to 10 mph; temperatures in the mid 60s to mid 70s. The only potential spoiler on the horizon is a 40% chance of scattered thunderstorms. We'll have to call it from the putin and of course if there's lightning we will not set out, but be prepared for the chance of rain. The route will be determined by weather and particularly wind speed and direction. At this point, looking at the gage (and its new reading height), we are good to go almost anywhere out there. Gage is at: Lk Charlotte nr Anahuac, TX - USGS Water Data for the Nation

I'm sure you all will be delighted to know we have changed our club insurance provider, and yes, a new waiver to fill out. This time relatively simple and you can take care of this online at: https://form.jotform.com/JLAagency/houston-canoe-club-waiver  We will no longer require you to be a member of the American Canoe Association to participate. Safety requirements of PFDs to be worn etc. are still in force. If you are not already a club member, you get three "free" attendances before we ding you for membership signup and fees. Please contact me at texwiest@gmail.com if you have additional questions.

Ho ho ho, merry, merry, I look forward to seeing you on Sunday for paddling or just for merriment, good food and cameraderie.
