Houston Bird Week is a celebration of the important role Houston plays in the journey of billions of migratory birds and the everyday lives of our resident birds. As one of the many Bird Week activities, Houston Audubon and the Buffalo Bayou Partnership are offering a “Birding and Boating” paddle on Saturday September 18 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM.
Registrants will meet at the North York boat launch (901 North York) for a paddling tour led by members of the Houston Audubon Young Professionals Advisory Council, who will point out flora and fauna with a focus on the hundreds of bird species that migrate through our area. The group will stop by Houston’s newest mural, Confluence, dedicated to the migratory birds of Houston’s major waterways.
All canoe equipment is supplied by Hokulele Paddling Club, but the organizers recommend bringing your own PFD, if possible.
