Wastewater in TX streams
Author Last Post

I received this from Tom Goynes, of the Texas Rivers Protection Assoc.:

"I received the following e-mail last night from one of our members:

'A small group of us have been working on legislation to protect Texas’ pristine rivers from the discharge of treated wastewater. We are thrilled that Senator Zaffirini will carry SB 1747 and Rep King will sponsor HB 4146! They have already filed the bills and we hope we have your support. This bill pertains to a limited number of streams which are considered pristine as they have low levels of phosphorous. I can forward the legislation to you if you like and I hope you will contact your legislator about it. The good news is that Tracy King is Chair of Natural Resources Committee. Thanks for all you do for Texas Rivers! Jeannie'

Please contact your state representative and state senator and ask them to support this legislation.  If you don’t know who represents you, you can find that information here:

Here's a link to the text of the bill:

This is important. Anyone who has been in Texas for 15 minutes knows that "treated" wastewater may be legal, but it sure isn't clean. Developers along our rivers and streams are lining up to dump their "treated" wastewater into them. We can't stop them if we don't speak up.
