San Marcos River clean-up
Author Last Post

This year's clean-up on the San Marcos will be held on February 27. I will be leader for the river segment from San Marcos River Retreat (Tom Goynes' place) to Scull's Crossing, approximately four miles. It usually takes 3-4 hours, depending on the amount of trash in the river. There will be some class II (II+) whitewater, so if you don't know what a draw stroke or an eddy turn are, you might not have great big fun. There will be free overnight camping at the SMRR, and hot water for showers. We will have lunch on the river, and there will be a free socially-distanced barbecue dinner Saturday night. The weather and river level will be what they are.

Everyone is invited to join in and help clean up the river. If you're interested, email me (address below) and I'll send you the details. Tom and Paula will need to know how many are camping, and how many will be dining. Waivers will be required, both general and Covid-19. Speed limits along SH 80 are strictly enforced in Martindale.

I am undecided about whether to slap the ACA tar baby and make this an official HCC trip.
