I also recently got a Facebook Friend Request from the name of a friend I hadn't heard from in a long time.

Then, soon after accepting "him" as a Facebook Friend, "he" requested a conversation via Messenger.

"He" started out asking how I was doing, upon which I started updating "him". Then, I asked how "he" was doing, upon which "he" said "he" was very happy, and had been looking into some kind of American Fund.

Further in the conversation, "he" asked me to call a phone number, to get signed up for this Fund, and receive $150,000. I replied that there must be a misunderstanding and that I didn't think I knew "him", and asked where "he" was living now. "He" gave the city shown in my Friend's Facebook profile. But when asked for something only he and I would know, "he" flunked the test.

So I immediately Blocked "him", then returned to Messenger and clicked on the selections to report "him".

Whereupon, I received confirmations from FB of my report, saying they would investigate the impersonator.

I was just glad I hadn't given "him" anymore personal information than I did!

Fellow members;

I just got an email, supposedly from another club officer, asking me to contact her "immediately". That sounded odd, so I called. It wasn't her. The actual sender address was NOT hers. She's being impersonated.

I did not respond, so I don't know "she" would have asked for a $500 gift card, or what, but all members should be on their toes and not respond to any emails that sound fishy. Check out the actual email address, rather than assume it's from the person whose name shows up in your inbox.
