Hello, members, the weather is warmer, and the paddling season is heating up again as well. Let‘s have a gear swap event at this month‘s general club meeting. If you have paddling gear, from paddles, dry-suits, racks, skirts, to yak(s), or canoe(s), ..., which you have not used for some time in the corner of your storage unit or maybe you have been contemplating buying certain paddling gear, now, this event is for you! Let’s socialize, after the club business, while we swap and sell gear. Tables will be provided to display your gear. Bring tiedowns in case you buy a boat. Bring cash, prepare for Venmo, or Zelle transactions, or a multiparty swap at the event. Contact Christy Long with questions at clong1956@sbcglobal.net.

This is a spring trip to the Buffalo River. The intention of the timing of this trip is to take advantage of the Spring rains and their correspondingly higher water levels. Evolving conditions will determine whether we start at Ponca for a 34.9-mile trip (with options for longer trips) or at Tyler Bend for a 35.4-mile trip. As always, there may be an option (conditions permitting) to add 10.7 miles with an empty-boat trip from Ponca to Kyle‘s Landing, or maybe a quick segment on the nearby King‘s River for those like me who just can‘t get enough.

Weather is unpredictable - it could be cold, it could rain, it could snow, or it could be clear and beautiful. I expect a mix.

The first and last scheduled days are travel days. Some will want to break up the travel, leaving a day earlier and returning a day later.

Those who register before the trip fills up will receive a float packet with overall trip plan/description, sample menu, maps and equipment recommendations.
