The Origin of the HCC Logo

In the early 1980s there was a call for a new logo for the Houston Canoe Club.  My design was selected.  I was surprised that it is still used.  The inspiration came from a photo I had taken on the San Marcos River in early 1982.  I reversed the image.  Susan Eda is in the stern and Kay Di Donato is in the bow.

I still have a T-shirt with the original logo. The current logo has been simplified. As you see there was more detail in the original.

In 1989 I moved from Houston (Alief) to Washington State. I am 80 years old and still have my Mohawk canoe although I don't use it much.  Below is a picture of me with my granddaughter - picture taken this August.
